Today we are finished with the pruning. Quite early. The winter was so far not really a winter, so we made good progress. The pruning is, as all the work in the vineyard, very important. Excluding the one-year canes are much, we can indeed expect a fairly large crop - wine quality will suffer in any case, including strong.

We cut short the vines. Thus, later concentrating the whole force of growth on a few grapes. The grapes can make as much sugar and more fruit, the wine has a much higher quality later. A mild winter has, however, so its pitfalls. Last October, we wanted to hang in a vineyard, the grapes for ice wine. For an ice wine, we need a minimum temperature of at least 7 degrees below zero. Only then the fruit is frozen water in the grapes and the only pure fruit extract is pressed out. Fortunately, we had then but apart from that - and to this day it would not have been cold enough.

Friends of sweet wines, however, need to give up anything. Our 2009 Beer selection is a premium wine, ice wine of inferior good in anything.
