Kerner
Kerner was bred in 1929 by crossing Riesling and Trollinger. The variety is particularly well suited to fruity, sweet wines. We first planted it in our vineyards in 1964. Kerner enjoyed a boom in the 1970s and was, for a time, Germany’s third most widely planted grape variety. In recent years, plantings along the Mosel have declined sharply. Its vigorous side-shoot growth makes it labour-intensive to cultivate. We remain committed to Kerner: our customers love it, and so do we.
